概要	This paper comprehensively summarized the purpose of establishing a long-term care insurance system in Japan, and backgrounds and history of establishing the system. Moreover, policies of the long-term care issues in such countries of ever increasing elderly population were introduced as the United States of the private sector-dependent type, Denmark of public (local governments) initiative type, Germany and the Netherlands of the social insurance systems type as a source of revenue, and UK of a tax system type, and an understanding of the Japan's long-term care insurance system is promoted by comparing with those systems in these countries）。
