概要 Children have selective trust, directed preferentially towards people who share the same language, as this indicats shared conventions. This sutudy examined Japanese monolingual preschoolers aged 4 and 5 (N = 52)to capture their selective judgements between foreign languag- and native language-speaking puppets and the extent to which they generalize these judgements. Children judged whom to trust on four different types of knowledge and characteristics. The results suggest that Japanese preschoolers are harsher in their judgements on Japanese speakers making linguistic mistakes than on foreign speakers, and that they ar eaware that linguistic knowledge is not related to the person's other social characteristics or preferences.
