概要 Journal Article: This article lays out the theoretical issues that confront researchers interested in analyzing postwar retail protectionism. Issues include: considering 1) the legacy of the U.S. Occupation of Japan; 2) the nature of postwar Japanese party politics; 3) the relationship between the government bureaucracy and civil society; and 4) the extent and logic of the so-called Japanese “industrial policy” (sangyo seisaku) state.
